CITY UPDATES COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
It has been 15 years since the last update to the City of Geneva’s comprehensive plan. With all the recent exciting things happening in Geneva, it is the perfect time to update the plan. The City applied for and received a 50% matching grant from the ODNR Coastal Management Assistant Grant. The Steering Committee had their kick off meeting on May 5th to start the process of updating the comprehensive plan. There will be a series of public meetings held to get public input from the citizens. The first public meeting is scheduled June 12th at 5:30 PM in the Geneva City Council Chambers. This will be a visioning workshop. The next public hearing is scheduled July 10th , where we will discuss the plans preliminary components. TREE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
Years ago, in 1984, the City of Geneva established a Shade Tree Commission. It’s time to breathe new life into this organization and Geneva’s tree lawns. Many old and dying trees along the streets have already been taken down for safety’s sake. The Shade Tree Commission will be spearheading a replacement program. We are looking for two Geneva City citizens who would be willing to give a few hours to serve on this commission to beautify our community.
